1960’s Richmond Virginia Brick Ranch Renovation With Multi-Terraced Pool and Patio
This amazing 1960’s Richmond Virginia Brick Ranch was renovated 2018-2019.
Architect: Dan Ensminger
Landscape Designer: Marcia Fryer
Builder: Jim Dunkum
The original brick ranch is located in an old established neighborhood in Richmond Virginia.
The client, a soon to be empty nester from an old Virginia family is downsizing from a traditional large home and wanted a modern renovation (something decidedly Un- Richmond in style) and integrated with the designed outdoor living space.
The entire home was completely renovated with an open floor plan, the back of the house was removed and replaced with glass walls consisting mostly of large folding doors. The ceilings were raised and supported by exposed steel.
From most any room in the home you have full views of the terraced gardens. The steep hill back yard, was transformed into multiple limestone terraces.
A covered multilevel dining terrace and fireplace seating area, as well as a rectangular pool with Limestone surround and concrete wall with copper fountain spitters, along with a separate bubbling in ground fountain.
There is a separate pool house, following the same design language as the house.
Terraced fire pit and lounging area, precast concrete large steppers and custom built bike storage structure, extending the same design as the privacy fencing.
